How to Choose Fabric Weight for Healthcare Uniforms
Compare 150, 200–205 and 225 GSM fabric options for scrubs and healthcare uniforms, then prepare the right questions for sampling.

Use GSM to narrow the shortlist, not to make the final decision. Start with the intended uniform and preferred weight range, then compare composition, construction, stretch direction, width and a physical sample.

What GSM tells you—and what it does not
GSM means grams per square meter. It is a useful way to compare fabric weight, but it does not by itself determine comfort, opacity, durability, drape or suitability for a specific uniform.
Within the current K&M healthcare-uniform collection, the four published options run from 150 to 225 GSM. That creates a practical starting range for comparing lightweight, medium-weight and more structured options.

150 GSM: the lightweight end of this collection
KMP-240513 is a 150 GSM, 100% polyester plain weave with mechanical stretch. Its published application is lightweight scrubs and general uniforms.
Consider this option when the brief starts with a lighter fabric. Before approval, review the actual hand feel, appearance, color and intended care requirements using the selected sample and any required test method.

200–205 GSM: two different medium-weight routes
KMP-212004 is a 200 GSM polyester, rayon and spandex plain weave described as four-way stretch. KMP-240446 is a 205 GSM polyester, rayon and spandex stretch twill.
The weights are close, but the blends and constructions are different. A sourcing decision should therefore compare more than the number: look at the surface, hand feel, stretch behavior, garment application and physical sample.

225 GSM: the most structured option shown here
KMP-231557 is a 225 GSM polyester, rayon and spandex weft-stretch twill. Its published application is structured scrubs and healthcare uniforms.
It is the highest-weight option in this four-fabric collection. If a defined garment silhouette is part of the brief, compare it with the medium-weight twills and review the result in the intended pattern and sample color.

What to confirm before selecting a weight
A useful sample request connects the weight range to the real uniform brief. Include the following information so the supplier can respond with the right product reference and current order details.
- Garment type and intended market
- Preferred composition and construction
- Target GSM or acceptable weight range
- Required stretch direction or test method
- Width, color and sample requirements
- Expected order quantity and timing
- Any required standard, test or documentation
